Canadian Network for Equity and Racial Justice
(CNERJ)

Our Mandate and Purpose
The Canadian Network for Equity and Racial Justice (CNERJ) was created with the Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants (OCASI) as our foundational base, in collaboration with the Chinese Canadian National Council for Social Justice (CCNCSJ) and the Colour of Poverty – Colour of Change (COP-COC) . This initiative is part of the North American Partnership for Equity and Racial Justice between Canada, Mexico, and the U.S. The agreement announced a commitment to taking concrete steps domestically and trilaterally to combat systemic racism, discrimination, and hate while striving towards cohesiveness between national laws and mutual commitments to international human rights conventions.
Our Work & Focus
Connecting With Communities
As we are building and expanding a national network, CNERJ connects activists, community leaders and advocacy organizations at the municipal, provincial or national level to share knowledge, best practices, and innovative strategies to decisively and effectively advance equity and racial justice across Canada.
Activating Data to Strengthen Advocacy
CNERJ commissioned and co-funded research reports with the goal to spark action, from grassroots initiatives at the community level to policy reform at the national level. Disaggregating sector-specific data based on race and ethnicity gives us solid evidence to push for change in areas like employment, housing, health, education, media and the arts.
Advancing Cross-Border Alliances
Cross-border solidarity matters more than ever today, and CNERJ connects on a regular basis with our allies in United States and Mexico. Together, we are building dialogue, sharing knowledge, and driving coordinated action.
Resources
This is where we share knowledge that drives change. We invite you to find collaborators in our ever-growing database of organizations working in the equity and racial justice space, and to explore videos, fact sheets and more – discovering the thoughts, stories and strategies from dynamic thought leaders and advocates committed to equity and justice.
